Project #3 Topic Proposal

     I plan to research the music education discourse community. I have been in music education pretty much since I started school at 5 years old. Music in general is a discourse community, but I am narrowing it down to music education. It is definitely a discourse community because there is a common goal, language, genres, members, and feedback. The goal is to make/learn/teach music. There are many different words used in music that are not used for anything other than it. There are many types of genres, ex. rap, country, rock, classical, etc.. If you are in a class or in a choir or in a band, you are a member. The feedback comes from the teacher to the student and from the board to the teacher. I plan to research and do interviews to write my paper.
